I hope that everyone is starting to enjoy the new season. Fall is one of our favorite seasons with the beautiful, vibrant colors and cooler temperatures. Fall just happens to be everyone’s favorite season for laser treatments. Our Tixel® just got a new fresh look! For those who do not know about the Tixel, it is the latest device for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles in those difficult to treat areas, such as around the mouth, eyes, décolleté, and hands. We can now treat the small, delicate eyelids with our new handpiece! Other conditions treated with the Tixel are skin texture changes, active acne, acne scarring, enlarged pores, scars, actinic keratoses, and stretch marks. The Tixel works by using heat plate technology to cause safe, controlled thermal damage to the top layer of the skin, resulting in collagen production, skin tightening, and rejuvenation.
The Tixel also creates micro channels in the epidermal layer of the skin that allows for excellent delivery of medications, such as chemical peels and lightening agents that we apply directly following the procedure. We can customize the agent applied to the individual patient to further enhance results. The micro channels stay viable for up to 24 hours, so post care is important during that time. We recommend applying our Plated exosome serum.
While the procedure is being performed, patients can experience a mild “burning” sensation when the heated plate contacts the skin but is well tolerated with topical numbing.
Healing will vary based on the intensity of the treatment, but you can expect redness lasting 1-3 days, then a tiny “dot” pattern with a sandpaper texture. That will then exfoliate off around 3-4 days after treatment. More aggressive treatments can cause redness and crusting for up to 7-10 days.
Our office has many treatment options with the Tixel, including standalone and package treatments. As I mentioned before, Fall is the busiest time for our laser department so I recommend scheduling your appointments in advance to ensure availability.
