Key Ingredients
TETRAHEXYLDECYL ASCROBATE / ESTER OF VITAMIN C (VITAMIN C)
An antioxidant and free radical scavenger. Lightens skin by inhibiting melanin synthesis. A necessary co-factor for healthy collagen synthesis, inhibits MMP enzymes. THD Ascorbate is an extremely stable and bio-available form of vitamin C which helps brighten skin and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
TOCOPHEROL (VITAMIN E)
One of the most potent antioxidants, particularly good at defending against and disabling free radicals made by the body. This ingredient is essential to tissue repair, works synergistically with vitamin C, and helps fight free radicals and environmental stressors that can lead to premature aging.
FERULIC ACID (FERULOYL SOY GLYCERIDES)
This potent antioxidant, found in plants, increases stability of vitamin C and E as well as adding photo-protection. This ingredient also provides additional protection against thymine dimmer formation.
BISABOLOL
Found as a natural component of chamomile, Bisabolol is an effective anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory ingredient, helpful in soothing red, irritated skin.
LACTIC ACID
Lactic acid (synthesized from vegetables) is part of skin’s natural moisturizing factor, or NMF. It’s hydrating because of its unique structure that allows it to bind water within the skin. Because lactic acid strengthens the skin’s barrier by encouraging it to make more ceramides, a key component of healthy skin, it is often recommended for sensitive skin, although all skin types can use it. Lactic acid is also an antioxidant; it can suppress heavy metals that may be present in water, preventing them from attacking healthy cells and releasing collagen-degrading enzymes. Lactic acid also strongly influences the skin’s microbiome, helping to keep its first line of defense strong by positively interacting with a neuropeptide in the skin’s surface known as Substance P, resulting in quick diffusion of signs that the skin is stressed.
